Now that fall is in the air, its time for many New Yorkers to pack their bags, rent a car and head upstate to view the gorgeous changing foliage, visit the farmers markets, go apple-picking or hike on an epic trail. For those without a country house (or friends that own one), Red Cottage Inc. has made it easy–think Airbnb, but curated for city folk with listings that cover everything from cabins to cottages, mobile homes and mansions. So head north this weekend for a relaxing getaway and stay at one of many gorgeous properties, like this farmhouse located in Jeffersonville, New York.

This renovated farmhouse sits on 20-acres which sprawls both sides of a country road. The house was built in 1847, and the floors and exposed hand cut beams are all original to the home.

Across the street from the house are two fields and some woods with a scenic clearing that can be explored. Behind the house are fields and pathways leading to an old stone wall hidden in the woods. To the right of the house are additional pathways to a meadow filled with golden rod and other native species.

Inside the house, the first floor features a chef’s kitchen, full bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower, and an open plan living room and dining room.

The wood burning stove is the focal point of the living room, creating a cozy retreat. The entire house is decorated with beautiful housewares that the owners love to collect. The back room of the house features a light filled studio space where guests can work if needed.

The two bedrooms upstairs both have queen beds. There is a large bathroom with a big clawfoot tub. The upstairs den has a projector where you can log into Netflix to watch movies. There is a pull-out sofa located in the den for additional guests.

Outside, there is plenty of space for activities and entertaining. There are frisbees, corn hole and horse shoes for guests to play. In the winter, the land is perfect for snowshoeing–and the house has two pairs that guests may use.

A gorgeous walk up the road will lead you to the neighboring farm where you can pick up some fresh farm eggs from their cooler–it’s an honor system $3.00/dozen.  The home is rural while still being conveniently located to several great Catskills towns, such as North Branch, Callicoon, Youngsville, Roscoe, Narrowsburg and Livingston Manor.
