After a long career as a catering chef in New York City, Carolin Walton-Brown understands the value of kitchen supplies that are well designed and purposeful. She opened her Livingston Manor, NY, shop in 2007 to offer kitchen tools and housewares that meet that description. Gradually, she began to incorporate clothing into the space and her customers responded positively. The store, which looks over the beautiful Willowemoc Creek, now has a little bit of everything and Carolin thinks of it as a small department store.
The new and vintage clothing for men and women is mostly casual, with a focus on excellent quality and design. Willow and Brown also features a curated selection of jewelry, accessories, perfume and candles, with many items made in America and a selection from local artists. At the back of the store is Sugar Blossom Flowers, with lovely plants and flowers.
Carolin’s creativity extends to interior design and she works with both commercial and residential clients on projects ranging from complete gut renovations to plumbing to pillows. She also serves as the project manager, acting as a liaison between the client and any employees. Locally, she has been involved with Catskill Brewery, and has some experience with LEED green building certification. Carolin wears a few different hats, and they’re all stylish.
